What issues concern you the most this legislative session?
There are a number of important issues facing the State this Legislative Session. Which are you hoping will be top priorities for the Legislature.
Here are a few of them.
1. The State Budget ($2.7 billion in the red)
2. GAMC Cuts - What if anything should be done about the lack of a medical safety net for the poorest of the poor?
3. Governors Unallotment Powers - They may try to settle this in court, but the Legislature could take action to change these powers.
4. Election Laws - A number of issues may come up including Absentee Ballots, Early Voter and Voter ID.
5. Charter Schools - Reform passed in 2008 may just be the beginning as Law Makers look to address lease money and facilities issues.

Poll: How should the governor and law makers balance the budget
Wow, 52% believe that cutting programs is the way to go. So, what programs should we cut?
They seem to be focused on some combo
Jeff,
It looks like they are really trying to solve this with a combination of cuts and maybe some new taxes. The Governor will likely veto any new tax, but still the same, the Legislative Leaders from the DFL will likely use the opportunity to raise the issues. Many programs have been cut to the bone already, just take a look at GAMC, LGA and others. The only real safety net left is a job and those are hard to come by these days for many people.
Not sure what they'll do in the end, but it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.
